PWD authorised to go in for emergency repairing

The State Government has authorised the PWD to repair roads damaged by the recent floods on emergency basis .
Briefing media persons at the Chief Minister's Secretariat this afternoon, Chief Minister N Biren stated that people are welcome to lodge complaints if the road repairing works are found lacking due quality .
On being enquired about the UNC's open objection to the formation of district Boundary Commission, the Chief Minister said, "An understanding has been brought with even the most aggressive and adamant China.
The Government would continue its dialogue with the UNC" .
The work of filling in potholes executed during the Government's 100 days programme was quite beneficial but many of the roads have been damaged by heavy rains and floods .
As assured earlier, the State Government has started road repairing/maintenance works as dry season has set in .
After skipping all the formalities required, road repairing works have been initiated in compliance with the CPWD manual .
Chief Secretary RR Rashmi, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Dr J Suresh Babu and PWD Chief Engineer Kh Temba were also present at the press meet .
To ensure that quality is being maintained while constructing roads, the Chief Minister informed that a Whatsapp group has been created with the PWD Chief Engineer and other officials of the department as its members .

If one suspects that quality is being compromised in constructing/repairing roads, one can lodge complaints/grievances to the Grievance Cell or Anti-Corruption Cell or directly to the Chief Engineer (PWD) .
The Chief Minister stressed that during the last six months, the Government tried its level best to fulfil several basic requirements and aspirations of the people of the State.
The Government gave priority to have good road connectivity to the district headquarters and other parts of the State, he added .
The Government welcomes any positive criticism or suggestions to have better governance and development in the State, Biren said .
Informing that a Bhoomi Puja would be performed for construction of two new bridges above the Barak River and Makru River at Barak on October 12, Biren said that he would be inspecting the conditions of Imphal-Jiribam highway on the occasion .
Stating the significance of "Imphal Evening" in a trouble torn State like Manipur, Biren Singh said that a review meeting was conducted for the regulation of road traffic, electrification, vehicles parking etc.
in consultation with the Traffic Police and other departments for the smooth functioning and for a better and more beautiful Imphal Evening .
There was little traffic congestion last night and little waste materials were seen this morning on the Kanglapat road.
It was a very good sign, Biren remarked .
The Government has been working to set up a regional football academy at Maiba Khul and astro turf would be laid at two places of Imphal East and Imphal West .
The State Government has already started renovating Khuman Lampak Main Stadium so that it can host I-League football matches.
The Government is also considering about extending financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to 20 lakh to sports clubs .
On being enquired about endangered Manipuri ponies roaming on the main roads, the Chief Minister immediately asked the Veterinary Director to go to Tingkai Khunou tomorrow itself and see that if horses can be sheltered at the fodder farm developed there by Veterinary Department.
