Tamenglong, September 08 2021:
The Nallong Students' Union (NSU) and Nallong Youth Club (NYC) has demanded immediate withdrawal of "NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE" with regard to the proposed new National Highway Project from Tamenglong (Manipur) to Peren (Nagaland) via Longdi Pabram, being issued by few individuals of Nallong village without the consent of the villagers.
A joint press release issued by NSU & NYC informed that in a combined emergency meeting held on October 20, 2021 along with delegates of Liangmai Naga Katina Ruangdi (LNKR) and Liangmai Naga Council (LNC), the Nallong Village Authority has resolved not to issue NOC for construction of National Highway.
"However, to our great dismay, it has come to the notice of the public that three individuals viz Silinbo (Chairman, Nallong Village Authority), Lamlungbo (Member, Nallong Village Authority) and Phenjinwangbo (member, Nallong Village Authority) has already issued an NOC for the new National Highway project without the consent of the villagers", it alleged.
The joint bodies of NSU and NYC further condemned the actions of some self-vested individuals and demanded immediate withdrawal of NOC.
"Failure to withdraw the NOC within three days (before September 9, 20210), a strong action will be taken against the three signatories", it concluded .
