Imphal, May 08 2022:
Taking strong exception to a statement issued by KSO Henglep Block recently, as many as 55 organisations from different parts of the State held a joint meeting today and adopted several resolutions.
The meeting held at the premises of Ibudhou Thangjing was convened by the Ibudhou Moirang Thangjing Phamnaiba Cheirap Loishang and the Thangjing Seva Mandal.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Keke Moirang Kangleirol Kanba Lup (KMKKL), Kege Moirang Kendra Apunba Lup (KEMKAL), Moirang Apunba Meira Paibi Ima Lup (MAMPIL), Kabui Union Manipur, Federation of Haomee, International Meetei Council, Tronglaobi Youth Association, Thinungei Lai Manai Lainingthou Sanamahee Thougallup, Lei Langba Lup Phubala, Loumee Shinmee Chaokhat Lup Moirang, TASDO Torbung, Phoubakchao Ikhai, JAC Tiddim etc.
The meeting discussed the importance and connection of Ibudhou Thangjing Khuvamlen to the indigenous people of Kangleipak/Manipur.
Practices such as seeking permission or taking consent from local populace or chiefs or organisations were non-existent in the past, the meeting noted.
Constitutionally, any Manipur-origin Manipuri does not require such permission or consent but on the contrary, any Manipuri is granted free movement within the territory of Manipur and this fact is known to them (KSO Henglep Block) .
"If any such thing happens Constituency-wise on the line of statement of KSO, Henglep Block, entire Manipur would be totally fragmented and compartmentalised to the lowest unit socially, politically and economically beyond any hope and imagination", said a press release issued by the Thangjing Seva Mandal.
In such situation, Manipur can no longer exist as an entity.
The Henglep-based KSO should withdraw such virtual local-centric fabrication in the best interest of general public and a strong and united Manipur in particular lest the organisations and the general public would be left with no alternative but to resort to active resistance, it asserted.
The meeting further resolved to approach the State Government to preserve the Ibudhou Thangjing Khuvamlen as a sacred heritage site and render protection to the Thangjing Range as a reserved forest under the Indian Forest Act.
