Imphal, April 08 2024: Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West has released social media influencer and YouTuber Sarungbam Johny on bail today.

Sarungbam Johny, 37, of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai was arrested by the police in a suo moto case for making Facebook posts which allegedly insulted and intimidated womenfolk.

On Facebook, S Johny had allegedly posted "Kuki Nupi na AR camp ta changbaduga eikhoi gi hanubi singna Babupara da lakpaga kari bu khetnarigeyne Sudhir Sahib, Hanubi Khara yonthokchari Manipur da thambam leitrey only Rs 500, Rs 500 da..., Babupara da Hanjin Hanjin lakeba Hanubi sing sea yum gi mi singna ahmukta warakpiyu Yam Ekai.." .

He was produced before the Court of the CJM Imphal West today after the completion of police custody period.

While the police prayed the Court for judicial custody remand of S Johny, his counsel filed an application for releasing him on bail.

The Court, on perusal of the case records, ordered the release of S Johny on bail.
