Imphal, December 07 2024:
The Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM), General Headquarters, has extended its unwavering support to the demand raised by the All College Tribal Students' Union, Imphal for the immediate release of the pending Scheduled Tribe (ST) scholarships.
In a release, TYCM alleged that the Government of Manipur continues to neglect the tribal communities across various sectors, and the delay in disbursing ST scholarships is a clear violation of students' inherent rights.
"It is deeply concerning that key tribal institutions such as the Tribal Affairs & Hills Department, Manipur State Commission for Scheduled Tribes (MSCST), and Tribal Research Institute (TRI) are in a state of collapse.
With most staff retired and only a few remaining personnel struggling to maintain operations, these institutions are unable to address the needs of the tribal population effectively", it added.
The TYCM-GHQ appealed to all tribal Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to unite and raise a collective voice to pressure the Government of Manipur to address their grievances and fulfill the Charter of Demands.
"Your solidarity and support are crucial to achieving justice and equality for the tribal communities of Manipur", it added.
The TYCM-GHQ also urged the authorities concerned to resolve this issue without further delay and release the pending ST scholarships at the earliest.
