Awareness programme on 'Menstrual Hygiene' organised

One day awareness programme on 'Menstrual Hygiene' was held today at Manipur Educational Mission (MEM) Higher Secondary School located at Ghari.
The awareness programme was organised by Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) under the sponsorship of National Commission for Women.
Speaking in connection with the programme, Chairperson in-charge of MSCW, Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang said that the Commission has been organising awareness drive on menstrual hygiene from May 28 onwards which is observed as the World Menstrual Hygiene Day.
The awareness drive is being conducted to sensitize adolescent girls about the importance of maintaining menstrual hygiene and to spread awareness among the masses that menstruation is a natural process experienced by women.
Menstruation should not be stigmatised rather it should be treated as a blessing, she added.
She continued that similar awareness programmes will be conducted at different locations across the State.
Gynaecologist, Dr Kabita Athokpam spoke in detail on menstrual hygiene during the programme.
Principal of MEM Higher Secondary School, Y Hitler Singh, members of MSCW, Lourembam Dayabati Devi and T Chuongsin Koireng also attended the programme as the presidium members.
