Imphal, June 06, 2014:
BSNL DOT pensioners of the State staged a protest demonstration at BSNL, Telephone Bhavan yesterday against the authority's failure to provide the benefit of 78.2 per cent IDA merger.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest demonstration, Mutum Kulla said that pay structure of the BSNL employees was revised on January 1, 2007. In accordance to the pay revision, an agreement was signed to the effect that employees as well as pensioners would be entitled to benefits of 78.2 per cent IDA merger alike.
However, the serving employees were given the benefit of IDA merger on June 10, 2013 while the pensioners are being denied the same benefit till date.
It was against this failure of the authority that a protest demonstration was staged on November 28 last year.
The aggrieved pensioners staged another protest demonstration yesterday against the authority's dilly-dallying tactics.
BSNL pensioners of the country would hold a meeting on July 29 and 30 and adopt a number of resolutions.
Photographs of the protest demonstration would be sent to the Ministry of Communications and Department of Telecommunications, Sanchar Bhawan, New Delhi, Kulla said.
