Training programme on human trafficking

As part of the countrywide proactive measures jointly adopted by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and State Government, a one-day state level training programme on Human Trafficking for State Police Personnel (ASI to DSP) was held today at 1st MR Banquet Hall with the objective of educating police officers and the rank and file on the issue so that they effectively combat human trafficking.
Inaugurating the training programme, DGP Y Joykumar said that the best education system is indispensable for grooming children and availing best education is the right of each and every child.
If the Government enacts a child policy with appropriate rules and regulations, the scourge of child labour can be mitigated considerably, he asserted.
DGP Joykumar was followed by ADGP (AP/Trg) LM Khaute giving the welcome address.
The inaugural session was attended by 70 participants in the ranks of ASI to DSP from different districts/units, senior police officers including SPs/COs, Social Welfare Director, Imphal East Child Welfare Committee Member Secretary and Convenor of the Manipur Alliance for Child Rights.
The training syllabus was based on the training module and materials provided by Bureau of Police Research and Development, Ministry of Home Affairs and included all aspects of human trafficking, legal provisions and strategies to combat human trafficking.
Resource persons who spoke at the training programme included ADGP LM Khaute, IGP (Trg/HR/RTI) Anand Prakash, SSP/CID (CB) Dr S Ibomcha, SP/DGCR Vandana Karki, Social Welfare Director G Satyabati, Imphal East Child Welfare Committee Member Secretary K Pradeepkumar, Convenor of the Manipur Alliance for Child Rights.
