Centre to assess water harvesting activities

A monitoring officer of the Central Government would arrive here tomorrow to make a field assessment of the water harvesting activities being undertaken in the State under the Central Government's Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA).
Minority Affairs Additional Secretary and JSA Monitoring Officer (Manipur) SK Dev Burman would land at Imphal tomorrow, informed a source.
He will visit Chandel tomorrow and make an assessment of the activities being taken up in the district for harvesting rain water.
He would also interact with State Government officials of the district.
He would hold a review meeting with Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu on Monday on different projects being implemented in the State for harvesting rain water.
Notably, the State Government has already decided to renovate water bodies so as to make them fit for harvesting rain water and focus MGNREGS works on rain water harvesting.
The State Government has also instructed all DCs to identify water bodies within their respective districts and formulate action plans for rain water harvesting, said the source.
