75 kidney transplants in five years

During the last five years, kidney transplantation has been done on 75 patients in the State, according to Dr Sanjeev Gulati, a Nephrology at Fortis Hospital, Delhi.
Addressing a press meet today at Hotel Classic, Dr Sanjeev said that Fortis Hospital has established links with several NGOs and Hospitals towards conducting kidney transplantation in the State.
Dr Sanjeev also said that kidney was successflly transplanted on a HIV infected person from the State at Fortis Flt Lt Rajan Dhall Hospital.
As part of the World Kidney Month observance, Fortis doctors would give Continuing Medical Education to local doctors here, he said.
A free medical camp would also be conducted by five superspeciality doctors of Fortis at Iboyaima Hospital and Research Centre, Imphal tomorrow.
A free kidney transplantation would also be conducted on a boy, Lamnganba by Fortis in association with Rotary Club of Polo City, Imphal, he further announced.
Towards this end, Rotary Club of Polo City would provide Rs 1.50 lakh assistance, secretary of the club, Dinesh Haobam said.
