Imphal, February 05 2025: Meira paibis staged a sit-in protest against the bomb attack at the residence of Asem Ranjit (64) at Kakwa Huidrom Leikai today.

Speaking by the sideline of the protest held in front of Ranjit's residence, Asem Roshni, secretary, Liwa Lambi Maibam Leikai Meira Paibi, said that unidentified persons hurled a bomb atop the roof of Asem Ranjit, retired Field Assistant of Agriculture Department, at 9 pm yesterday.

The explosive ricocheted/rebounded from the roof and landed on the nearby road but fortunately did not explode.

Locals and family members immediately informed Kakwa Police.

Soon after, bomb experts and police personnel arrived on the spot and removed the explosive.

The next day, the pin pulled from the bomb was found and the police arrived again to take away the item, she shared.

Notably, she pointed out that earlier this year on January 16, unknown miscreants planted a hand grenade at the courtyard of Asem Ranjit.

Demanding a clarification from the responsible individuals for such acts, she appealed against planting bombs in residential areas which can cause serious threats to public safety.

Womenfolk belonging to Kakwa Huidrom Leikai Meira Paibi, Liwa Lambi Maibam Leikai Meira Paibi, Naorem Leikai Meira Paibi and Oinam Leikai Meira Paibi took part in the protest.
