Imphal, November 04 2024: A 64-year old Vaiphei woman was rescued by Jiribam district police and handed over to her family on November 3 .

Briefing media persons today, Jiribam SP K Robinson said that police received information from Meira Paibis, CSOs and village volunteers about the presence of a woman suspected to be from Kuki community at IB Leikai, Babupara Ward No 6, Jiribam yesterday afternoon.

On receiving the information, Jiribam district police rushed to the spot without wasting any time and rescued the woman who came in an auto-rickshaw.

On spot verification, the woman was identified as Hoinu (64) w/o late Shingjapao Neihsial of IB Leikai, Ward No 6, Babupara but presently staying at Lalpani, Cachar district, Assam.

The auto-rickshaw driver was identified as Abdul Hussain (24) s/o Ali Hussain of Jirighat Grant Bazar, Cachar district.

The rescued woman and the auto-rickshaw driver were later handed over to their respective families, the SP said.
