Large quantity of arms recovered

In a series of successful joint operations carried out by the Army, State police and other security forces a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and other war-like stores have been recovered from several districts.
The integrated operations involved extensive planning and judicious use of explosive detection dogs, metal detectors and other state of the art equipment, said the Army in a statement.
On August 28, the security forces recovered one Sten Mark-V Rifle, two 12 Bore Single-Barrel Rifles, two 9mm Pistols, nine hand grenades and other war-like stores from Sekmaijin area in Kakching district.
On August 30, security forces recovered one Soviet Rifle, one local made Rifle, a bolt action Rifle, one 0.22 Pistol, one improvised mortar, six Pompis and war like stores from Changsang near Sagolmang and Ekou Mulam near Saikul of Kangpokpi district.
On September 1, security forces recovered one 51 mm mortar, one Rifle MA-3 MK-II, one AK-47 Rifle, two lathode guns, one .303 Rifle, six 9mm Pistols, seven Single-Barrel 12 Bore guns, two .22 Rifles, twelve Single-Barrel 12 Bore guns, eleven Pompi guns, 49 improvised explosive devices, grenades, tear gas shells, ammunition and other war like stores from Manipur R Corridor, Molnom-Senam Hills, and Saivom Hills, across Churachandpur, Tengnoupal and Chandel districts.
