District industrial estate foundation stone laid

Minister of Commerce & Industries, Govindas Konthoujam laid the foundation stone of the District Industrial Estate, Thoubal District today at Kuraopokpi Village, Thoubal.
Speaking on the occasion, Govindas, urging the masses to raise voices against economic blockades and bandhs in the State, said that economic blockades do not limit limit itself to one person, the affect would be felt by the entire community which, in turn, could lead to economic deformation.
The Foundation Stone laying ceremony of the Industrial Estate under Micro-Small Enterprises � Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP) scheme of Ministry of MSME, Government of India, was organized by Department of Commerce and Industries, Government of Manipur.
The event was graced by Govindas Konthoujam, Veterinary and Animal Husbandary, Sericulture as Chief Guest; Y Surchandra Singh, MLA Kakching A/C as President and K Ranjit, MLA Sugnu A/C; Paonam Brojen, MLA Wangjing Tentha A/C and Md Fajur Rahim, MLA Wabagai A/C as the guests of honour respectively.
Govindas stated that the Micro Small Enterprises Ministry is the largest employment providing avenue next to Agriculture sector in the State.
Since the attainment of Statehood, there was only one Industrial estate at Takyel.
However, through efforts of the present government, there are provisions for setting up Industrial Estate in every District under the Micro-Small Enterprises � Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP), said the Minister.
The Minister further stated that the setting up of Industrial Estate would bring economic growth to the State as it would provide employment opportunity to masses which in turn will raise the living standards of the people.
It is the local populace, he added, who would reap maximum benefits from the industrial estate.
When India signs the Free Trade Agreement with other Asian countries for setting up of Multi Logistic Hub at Pallel, the people of Thoubal and Chandel District would acquire the greatest benefits first of all as the two district are at the corridor of the Asian Highway.
Moreover, the trade agreement would also boost the State economy, he added.
falling back on the issue of bandhs and blockade in the State, the Minister of commerce and industries, questioned the way to achieve economic growth and development when the State indulges in imposing economic blockade almost everyday which put economic activities to standing halt.
He further encouraged the masses to raise their voices against economic blockade and bandhs in the State.
