Civil bodies inspect NH-37 and NH-2

Imphal, August 04 2021:
Representatives from various civil society organisations on Wednesday inspected the condition of National Highway-37 (Imphal-Jiribam) and National Highway-2 (Imphal-Dimapur) .
The civil bodies included- All Manipur Road Transport Drivers and Motor Workers Union, Surface Transport Hill Area Driver Welfare Union, Senapati District Driver Welfare Union, Hill's Area Driver welfare Union Khongsang, All Jiribam Road Transport Drivers Union, Surface Transport Eco and Environment Society Nagaland.
Speaking on the occasion, M Anil Meitei, general Secretary, AMRTD & MWU highlighted the difficulties faced by the drivers in the monsoon season due to the bad condition of the roads.
He also pointed out the deplorable condition of Barak bridge and urged the contractors who are tasked with repairing the roads to consider the service given by the drivers who are ferrying different types of goods including food items for the people especially during the COVID-19 pandemic to repair the roads and bridges.
M Anil Meitei on behalf of the Driver Union further appealed to the public and all concerned to let the drivers carry out their service for the welfare of the people without any hindrances.
