Theatre festival ends on optimistic note

With a promise to hold a National theatre festival in the State next year, the seven-day State level Festival of Contemporary Plays ended on optimistic note at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy today.
Noted theatre group, 'Manipuri Ensemble' organised the event with an objective to popularise theatre movement in the State.
Lok Sabha MP Dr T Meinya and Manipur State Kala Akademi Secretary S Vedeshwar Sharma graced the closing function as chief guest and president respectively.
Dr T Meinya while speaking at the function mentioned about the huge potential and talents of the Manipuris in the field of art, culture, music, dance and sports etc.
He also said that theatre tourism is another aspect which the State may earn huge revenue.
Presenting his festival report, Festival Director Kshetri Jugindro announced that 'Manipuri Ensemble' would organise a National theatre festival in the State next year.

He said that his group could successfully hold the State level festival with the co-operation extended by different individuals and groups albeit there were financial constraints.
Vedeshwar in his speech stressed on the need for dedication of the theatre personalities in order to popularise theatre movement in the State.
Earlier, Festival Co-ordinator K Sarojkumar Sharma welcomed the gathering.
The festival was organised under the aegis of Union Ministry of Culture.
Manipuri Ensemble's Mangal Yaodraba Numit was later presented before a capacity crowd as the closing play.
