Imphal, April 04 2013:
Reacting to the charges of UNLF, PRO IGAR (S) has asserted that the 'propaganda news by UNLF' published in some sections of the media in Manipur on 4 April alleging that personnel of 44 Assam Rifles are responsible for shooting one innocent Mayanmarese citizen belonging to Phayang village of Myanmar on April 2 was completely false and baseless.
In a statement, PRI IGAR (S) clarified that there was no such incident of capturing or shooting of Kuki villager or firing incident along Indo-Myanmar border on that day.
It is nothing but a desperate attempt on the part of UNLF to tarnish the image of the security forces who have continuously foiled repeated attempts of its armed cadres to infiltrate through the porous Indo-Myanmar border and a frustrated attempt to hamper the increasing cooperation especially in the field of social-economic and people to people contact, the PRO asserted.
The PRO went on to say that the UNLF cadres have earlier tried to palm off the blame of destroying the bridge on Tamu-Mintha road in Myanmar to the Indian security forces.
It has already been verified earlier that the security persons are not violating the IB between India and Myanmar and are employed for border guarding role only.
This has been a recent emerging strategy by the UNLF to create problems in Myanmar, where they lack local support, in terms of killing innocent civilians and destroying government property and blaming the ill doing to the Indian security forces to create environment of distrust between the border village civilians, the PRO added.
