Langban Chara Tamba offered

Marking the last day of the half-month long ritual of Langban Chara Tamba/Langban Heisoi Tamba, flowers, fruits and other oblations were offered to ancestors of the seven Yek-Salais and martyrs at Wangjing Kodompokpi Sports Complex Relief Camp yesterday.
The ritual was jointly organised by the Committee on Protection Of Meetei Victims (CoPMeV) Moreh, Wangjing Kodompokpi Sports Complex Relief Camp Committee and Lamding Higher Secondary School Relief Camp.
The gathering offered prayers for both the ancestors and martyrs to rest in eternal peace.
Additionally, similar oblations were offered at Leng Ondabi Paat located at Khoiren in Cachar, Assam on the occasion.
The ceremonial service was organised by Leng Ondabi Paat Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur, Assam and witnessed the attendance of Waikhom Amuchou Meetei, president, Leng Ondabi Paat Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur Assam; Sunan Egudam, joint secretary, Assam Thang-Ta Association; Uttam Kumar Sharma, vice-president, Assam Thang-Ta Association; Yumnam Manikanda, vice-president, Assam Thang-Ta Association; Chandrakola Singha, former Pradhan; Khaidem Kanta, advisor, Leng Ondabi Paat Protection and Preservation Committee and Likmabam Ranjit, member, Leng Ondabi Paat Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur Assam among others.
The gathering offered flowers, fruits, incense sticks, candles to ancestors such as Maharaj Gambhir Singh, Meidingu Nara Singh and brave martyrs who laid down their lives to protect Manipur.
Later, a booklet titled Langban Ehul (Leisoi) Tamba was released.
The booklet contains the activities undertaken by Leng Ondabi Paat Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur, Assam to conserve the Leng Ondabi Paat from 2021 upto 2024.Speaking in this connection, Waikhom Amuchou said that the age-old ritual was performed at the Leng Ondabi Paat to make the public aware of its history and to intensify efforts to ensure that the Assam Government accords due importance to it by declaring the region as a historical site.
The booklet also mentions that the Committee has performed the Langban Chara Tamba ritual for the third time now.
Additionally, Athouba Singgi Liklam Thiba Lup also offered oblations at Leng Ondabi Paat yesterday to mark the last day of Langban Tarpon along with the Committee members.
On the occasion, Tekcham Nando, president, Athouba Singgi Liklam Thiba Lup lauded the heroic efforts of Maharaj Nara Singh during the Seven Years' Devastation and urged the people of Manipur to follow in the footsteps of the brave ruler in the back-drop of the ongoing conflict.
