Attack on general secretary of COPTAM decried

Imphal, July 03 2011: Different bodies have condemned the attempt of a group of unknown persons to attack the general secretary of COPTAM, Thangkam Lupheng at North AOC.

In a press release, Thadou Students' Association (TSA), Chandel district said, some people manhandled one Ramhaoleng mistaking him to be Thangkam Lupheng at around 2 pm on June 28 .

Saying that the State Government must be responsible for any untoward incident which may happen as the fallout of the attack, TSA accused the Government of attempting to suppress the voice of COPTAM.

In another press release, Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Sadar Hills said, the Government must trace the culprits who were involved in the incident at the earliest.

Tangkhul Aze Katamnao Long (TAKL) while decrying the attack cautioned the concerned not to repeat such an unwise move in future.

The State Government must bring the culprits to book, TAKL demanded.
