Imphal, July 02 2013:
Although the Government has recently upgraded five High Schools to Higher Secondary level, new academic session is awaiting commencement at the five higher secondary schools due to alleged failure of the Government to provide additional teachers and other infrastructure, Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) pointed out today.
A statement issued by the students' body said that selected guest lecturers for the five schools did not turn up at their respective place of posting as the Govt failed to sign an agreement with them.
The five upgraded higher secondary schools are Nilapadma Higher Secondary School, Langmeidong Hr Sec School, Borobekra Hr Sec School, Jesammi Hr Sec School and Vungzagen Hr Sec School.
The DESAM statement today categorically questioned why the Government has not been putting efforts for timely commencement of session if it is very serious about giving better education.
It also asked why the Govt fails till date to sign an agreement with the selected guest lecturers.
It said that it was very unfortunate that the Minister, Commissioner and Director of Education have failed to deliver their commitment.
Pointing out shortage of teachers, even Principals, in the recently upgraded higher secondary schools, DESAM also questioned the concerned authority how the schools are to be run effectively without providing adequate infrastructure.
The statement also decried the laxity of the Government in materialising its order that effects the conversion of Ramlal Paul Hr Sec School into an all girl's school.
It urged the Government to end the impasse at Ramlal Paul Hr Sec School at the earliest while reminding that obstacles are obvious if a change is intended.
