May Day observed across State

May Day was observed at various places across the State on Sunday, May 1 .
At Lamphel Super Market Complex, Lamphelpat, Manipur Keithel Phambi Apunba Lup and Lamphel Super Market Coordinating Committee jointly organised the May Day observation function on Sunday at 1 pm.
Laishram Mema, secretary Manipur Keithel Phambi Apunba Lup and Councillors of Municipal Cooperation spoke at length during the day's event.
Scores of street vendors from across the State also participated in the function.
Separately, All Manipur Progressive Farmers' Association (AMPFA) also observed May Day at the Training Hall of Nongchup Imphal Loumee Sinmi Chaokhat Thourang Lup, Imphal West on Sunday and held a discussion on the topic of May Day and the working class farmers and labourers.
During the event, Kh Biren, general secretary, AMPFA presented the keynote address, Khomdram Gyaneswor Singh, president TUCC spoke about the rights and grievances of farmers and S Kennedy, District Agriculture Officer, IW educated the gathering about PM Fasal Bima Yojana, KCC, PM Kisan Yojana and other such beneficial initiatives.

All Manipur Trade Union's Council (AMTUC) also observed May Day at the Conference Hall of Manipur State Pharmacy Council on May 1 .
During the day's event, appeals were made to grant state employees with all the benefits that central employees receive.
It was expressed that employees working in far off periphery areas have been faced with a lot of inconveniences owing to the newly announced office hour schedule.
AMTUC also appealed to the State Govt to implement the Old Pension Scheme as approved by the Supreme Court.
Further, All India Trade Union Congress, Manipur State Council (AITUC, MSC) conducted the 132nd May Day observance alongwith the 16th All India Trade Union Congress at Thau Ground on Sunday.
The day's event was kicked off with a one-minute silence observed in honour of the deceased members of Trade Union Congress Manipur.
Dr M Nara, president, AITUC, Manipur addressed the gathering and extended his greetings on the occasion of May Day.
All Manipur Manpower Upliftment Centre too observed International Workers Day- May Day at Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU) Hall, Yaiskul yesterday.
Many workers employed in various trades, including women workers, attended the May Day observance and unanimously resolved to unite to strengthen the power of workers.
Speaking to media persons, Wairokpam Dinesh, general secretary, All Manipur Manpower Upliftment Centre, stated that the function was organised to honour workers across the globe.
He further added that simple gifts were presented to selected female workers of the State to honour and encourage them.
It may be noted that All Manipur Manpower Upliftment Centre is currently providing embroidery training to women to improve their economic condition and ensure their financial independence.
Manipur Government Services Federation (MGFS) also observed International Workers' Day - May Day, yesterday at DIPR auditorium, Imphal.
The event was attended by Dr M Rajendro, president, MGFS and Kshetrimayum Santa, secretary, CITU as presidium members.
