PBC Christmas, New year celebration ends with a rousing fanfare

Ukhrul, January 02 2015 : A week long Christmas and New Year celebration of Phungyo Baptist Church PBC, the first established Church of Manipur, concluded with vibrant and entertaining programme which left the town populace enchanted.

Since Christmas eve, Ukhrul denizens spent the days with relatives in participating in various entertainment activities at their respective Church.

As the Church bell rang at 9.30am, people started gathering at the Mission Ground Alungtang, Ukhrul to celebrate the most awaited Christmas day.

As part of encouraging the youth in sporting activities, PBC football tournament was organized.

Tug of war, relay race, balloon breaking, fancy dress competition, cock fight, brick race etc.

thrilled the crowd.

Unlike other competitions, PBC fancy dress is a fascinating competition usually performed by women folk who showcase their mimicry talents.

The town hub looks almost deserted after 11 am during Christmas and New year celebration week as the people throng to the Christmas ground.

The PBC fifth season Voice Hunt competition enthralled the Church on New Year's eve celebration.

Yaimichon Kasomwoshi who represented Hunphun Baptist Church won the PBC 2014 voice hunt title.

In the PBC football final, Seven Finance Ukhrul clinched the under 12 category title after defeating Viewland while in the under 14 category, Tangrei edged past Awungtang 1-0 .

In the senior football final Meizailung overcame Viewland Zone II by a margin of 2 goals to one at TNL ground, Ukhrul.

Meizailung lifted the PBC senior football trophy.

The coveted championship flag of PBC 2014 was lifted by Awontang, Ukhrul after the overall assessment of competition points.
