Thadou Convention 2024 resolves to form six new bodies

The Thadou Convention 2024 resolved to form six Thadou bodies at the inauguration of the three-day convention which was held yesterday at Guwahati.
As per a press note issued by the Thadou Community International (TCI), the six bodies are Thadou Inpi Mizoram (TIMz), Thadou Chiefs' Council (TCC), Thadou Human Rights Advocacy (THRA), Thadou Academic Forum (TAF), Thadou Seniors Citizens Forum (TSCF) and Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) .
The first day of the event was attended by leaders and delegates of the Thadou community from various parts of the country and the world.
The Convention was also graced by leaders of Mizoram based NGOs as dignitaries.
During the first day, the convention also unanimously adopted 10 points of declaration, some of the main ones being that Thadou is a distinct ethnic group of people, and that Thadou is not Kuki, or underneath Kuki, or part of Kuki, but a separate, independent entity from Kuki.
The Convention also resolved to place a demand for recognition of Thadou tribe as a separate, distinct Scheduled Tribe in Assam, Mizoram and Nagaland states.
The Convention is set to conclude on November 2 .
