Various awards and scholarships given by the Rotary Club of Imphal were distributed today as a part of its 49th foundation day observation which was held at the Rotary Multi Service Centre in Mantripukhri.
Late Jhoomarmal Kashliwal Memorial Award for 'Rotary Media-person of the Year' award was presented to Soubam Bokuljaoba Meetei of The Sangai Express; Shripal Chand Jain Memorial Award for 'Rotary Fireman of the Year' to Md Khallique Mazumdar; Rotarian Bijay Jain Memorial Award for 'Rotary Sports person of the Year' to Sh Nilakanta Sharma, Olympian (Tokyo 2020) and Senator Okram Memorial Rotary Footballer of the Year to Suresh Singh Wangjam, said a statement issued by the Rotary Club of Imphal.
Late M Ibobi Memorial Award for 'Rotary Traffic Personnel of the Year' to Asem Bima Singh; Late Th Ibomcha Singh Memorial Award 'Rotary Nurse of the Year' to Maibam Ranita Devi; honoured two Senior Citizens Maisnam Ibohal Singh and Chongtham Kamala Devi, presented wheel chair in memory of late Om Prakash Gulati to Amom Chaoba Singh of Takhel village; late Sinam Tomchou Singh Memorial Distribution of Hearing Aids to five needy persons; late Sagolsem Juge Memorial Rotary Scholarship to four blind students of Ideal Blind School, Takyelpat and "Late Oja Sagolsem Indramani Memorial Scholarship" to the two best students of Children Home, Dewlaland.
Prizes for 46th Rotary on the spot painting competition 2021 were distributed to Daulas Lambamayum of St George School, Wangkhei; Presila Heikrujam of Kendriya Vidyalaya, No 1 Lamphelpat; Martin Tongbram of Pitambara English School, Kwakeithel; Julianaa Thoidingjam of Kendriya Vidyalaya No 1 Lamphelpat; Lanleiba Sinam of Ramakrishna Mission School Imphal and Toijam Ghanashyam of Bal Vidya Mandir, Palace compound.
Dr Mohan Shyam Konwar, district governor, who was visiting the Rotary Club of Imphal to review the various service projects undertaken by the club during the current rotary year was also present during the programme along with his wife Rtn Minu and assistant governor (Zone IX) Rtn Sanjay Agarwal.
A new Rotaract Club of Imphal was also founded today with district governor presenting pins and collars.
A new Rotary Community Corps was also installed at Takhel village, Imphal East district by the visiting district governor.
Dr Mohan S Konwar appealed to all members of RC Imphal to donate to the Rotary Foundation to help take up various service projects to serve to change lives around the world.
