Bombs found planted at 2 spots

Imphal, January 31 2016:
Suspected underground militants planted bombs at two different locations in the past 24 hours.
At around 8.30 am today, a team of Bishnupur district police commandos detected a suspicious tin can on the busy Tiddim road at Mekola, 5 km away from Nambol police station, said a police source.
Police immediately cordoned off the area and blocked traffic and pedestrians for some time.
Later, a team of bomb experts confirmed that the suspicious object was an IED fitted with a detonator.

The bomb was retrieved from the area and detonated safely at a nearby secluded place.
Later, normal traffic movement was restored on the road.
Nambol police have taken up a case regarding the incident.
On the other hand, a hand grenade wrapped in a piece of paper was found planted at the residential gate of Chongtham Purnachandra (58) s/o (L) Ch Krishnachandra of Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai under Singjamei police station at around 10 last night.
Purnachandra is said to be a store keeper of CAF & PD, Sangaiprou.
Singjamei police recovered the bomb at around 11.30 pm.
A case has been taken up regarding the incident.
