Workshop on Manipuri dance production ends

A one-month long workshop on Manipuri Dance Production of Fusion Inter Ethnic Dance Ensemble for Children organised by Aribam Raseswori Devi, Nagamapal Soram Leirak came to an end today at Golden Jubilee Auditorium MJM Complex, Lamboikhongnangkhong, Imphal West.
The workshop was held under the financial assistance of Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
Padmashree S Thanil Singh, retd Pradhan Guru of JNMDA; State Awardee N Tiken Singh, director, PAL and Budha Chingtham, Member of NEZCC & State Programme Committee Member, EZCC Kolkata MOC attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
In his speech, Padmashree Thanil said that the knowledge of dance and song should be imparted to kids in their early childhood in order to have a strong foundation.
He asserted that the workshop provided a platform to the children to showcase their talents and skills in Manipuri dance.
He exhorted the children to apply the knowledge they gained from their Gurus.
Performances of dance exercise with slock, Maibi Jagoi, Lai Haraoba Jagoi, Kom dance, Mao dance.
Kabui dance and inter ethnic fusion dance ensemble by children marked the occasion.
It may be mentioned that Aribam Raseswori Devi who completed Post Graduate Diploma in Raas Lila and Lai Haraoba from JNMDA has won three Gold Medals in the field of dance in 1988 & 2013, Dr Ambedkar Fellowship Award in 2005 and A Grade Artiste DD National Empanel Artiste ICCR New Delhi.
