Imphal, December 31 2015 :
Many LPG consumers who have not received their Aadhar cards after photographs and other details have been taken are worried whether their LPG connections would be invalidated because they could not furnish Aadhar cards.
One LPG consumer from Uripok, Imphal West told The Sangai Express that his photographs and other details were taken about a year back for generation of Aadhar card but the same card has not been issued till date.
Meanwhile, LPG distributors have been asking for Aadhar cards every now and then.
As such, many consumers are worried whether their LPG connections would be invalidated in case Aadhar cards could not be submitted in time.
With almost one year gone since the photograph was taken, the acknowledgement slip given for taking photograph and other details has been misplaced/lost, said the worried consumer.
On being enquired with LPG distributors whether failure to submit Aadhar cards in time would result in cancellation in LPG connections, they (distributors) did not give unambiguous reply, he said.
However, IOC official stationed at Imphal said that today (December 31) is the last date for submission of Aadhar cards to LPG distributors according to a circular issued by the Government of India.
The circular did not say anything about LPG consumers whose Aadhar cards have not been generated.
As such, all DBTL consumers would be issued refills even if their Aadhar card numbers have not been seeded, said the official.
One Ratan, a consumer of Jemon Gas, Mayang Imphal has received just two refills between April this year till date.
He got the first refill on May 26 after he made the booking on January 14 .
He was issued the second refill on October 16 after due booking was done on June 6.He made the latest booking on October 26 and he is still awaiting for the third refill.
However according to official records, all the consumers of Jemon Gas, Mayang Imphal who made their bookings on December 29 or earlier have been issued refills.
There are 1410 consumers who have not been issued refills after they made their 'bookings on December 30 and 31 .
One Shanti whose LPG connection was transferred from Porompat Gas to GBD Indane Service said that her bank account was found closed as she did not get either refill or subsidy because the process of transferring LPG connection took a prolonged period.
She got only one refill after her LPG connection was transferred to GBD Indane Service from Porompat Gas but no subsidy amount entered her bank account.
On enquiry, the distributor told her to submit Aadhar card to bank but when she went to bank, her bank account was found closed.
She said that she opened the bank account exclusively for receiving LPG subsidy.
Had LPG refills been issued regularly and corresponding subsidy amounts transferred to bank, the account would not have been closed, she rued.
Since the enforcement of DBTL scheme, one has to take at least Rs 700 to collect one LPG refill.
Earlier Rs 400 was more or less enough.
The additional amount paid by consumers is lost if the subsidy amount does not enter his/her bank account.
As such, the earlier system has greater merits than the existing one (DBTL), she added.
