A haul of three golds, two silvers and a bronze in a days work was still not enough for Manipur to prevent Services from overtaking it in the overall medals tally and the state now occupies third slot with 28 gold medals after Punjab and Services.
While host Punjab�s grip on the top slot has been clear for the past three days, Service and Manipur have been on a neck to neck race for the second place.
Dominance in boxing ensured that Service tool a marginal lead over Manipur with 33 golds.
Delhi is 4th with 21 golds currently but Kerala with 13 golds at the moment is expected to shoot up in the days ahead once the canoeing and kayaking results begin flowing in.
Manipur women archers displayed their class today, bagging two golds and a bronze.
The star of today�s competition was clearly L Suni Devi who after winning her individual event in the Indian Round Event, introduced for the first time in the games, steered her team to another gold later on.
B Sophiya Devi got the bronze in Indian Round Event.
The Manipur women team of L Suni, B Sophiya Devi and B Geetanjali Devi then aggregated 1678 points to win yet another gold for the state ahead of Jharkhand team.
Manipur�s men team was not in medal contention finishing sixth in the competition.
Boxing:Manipur�s two finalists in the boxing event, S Dhanabir and Rajkumar Singh, were humbled by their rivals from the Services and Punjab, to bring home only a silver each.
Light weight Dhanabir lost to Ramananda of the Services 6-15, while light heavyweight Rajkumar lost to Harpreet Singh of Punjab by a referee stooped the contest, r.s.c, decision after Rajkumar suffered a nasty, profusely bleeding, open cut above the eyebrow.
Manipur�s boxing results were far below expectations having won only three golds, 3 silvers and 4 bronzes.
Only weightlifting fared worse with only two silver coming from it.
Judo: In judo, Manipur�s Kh Tombi Devi claimed another gold in 44 kg class.
Football: Manipur have entered the final of the women�s football too, trouncing last year�s runners up, West Bengal 3-1.They will meet Punjab who narrowly beat Bihar by a golden goal after the match remained goalless in the regulation time.
Handball: Manipur women lost narrowly to Punjab in handball 23-25 but both the teams which landed in the same pool in the qualifying rounds have qualified for the semifinals.
