17 new cases logged

Imphal, December 30 2021:
In line with the low count of new cases reported in the last many days and despite the shadow of the Omicron variant hanging heavy in the air, Manipur recorded no deaths due to the virus for the third day on the trot since, December 28.The death tally stands at 2002 .
In a statement issued to the press today, the COVID-19 Common Control Room said that altogether 17 persons including 4 Central security personnel tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
The positive status was confirmed during testing at JNIMS (3) and other testing centres (14) .
The positive cases from amongst the 13 civilians are from Imphal East (5), Imphal West (5), Thoubal (2) and Churachandpur (1) .
Necessary precautionary measures including contact tracing and containment are in place, claimed the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The 17 positive cases were detected while testing a total of 1254 samples to take the daily positivity rate to 1.4 percent.
With 17 more testing positive, the cumulative number of positive cases is 1,25,778 including 4,440 Central security personnel.
Apart from Chandel, hill districts continue to record low vaccination coverage with Kangpokpi where a 12.94 percent of the eligible, population have received the second dose and 19.43 pc the first dose.
Ukhrul continues to remain indifferent to the vaccination drive with just 17.91 percent of the eligible population receiving the second dose and 24.34 percent the first dose.
Kamjong 33.68 pc (first dose) and 22.33 pc (second dose), Pherzawl 33.49 pc (first dose) and 31.26 pc (second dose), Noney 40.32 pc first dose) and 28.67 pc (second dose) .
On the other hand, 12 more persons were discharged during the last 24 hours to take the total number of recovered cases to- 1,23,586.including 4,428 Central security personnel.
The 12 persons discharged included 6 from home isolation, 4 from JNIMS and 2 from CCCs.
The recovery rate is 98.26 percent and the number of active cases is 190 inclusive of 7 Central security personnel.
A total of 5003 Covid vaccine doses were administered on December 29 to take the cumulative number of doses given to 23,10,302 including 9,87,049 second dose.
A total of 310 D Type Oxygen cylinder arid 31 B Type Oxygen cylinder were made available to different health centres in the last 24 hours.
