COVID-19 death toll climbs to 164

Imphal, October 30 2020:
The State today witnessed four more COVID-19 related deaths during the last 24 hours taking the total toll to 164 .
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, three females and a male died of COVID-19 at Samaritan Hospital, RIMS and JNIMS.
The latest victims included a 42-year old woman from Churachandpur, one 60-year old woman from Imphal West, a 56-year old man from Kangpokpi and one 53-year old woman from Imphal East.
Meanwhile COVID-19 Nodal Officer and Ministry of Power Joint Secretary VK Dewangan who led a Central team to the State to take stock of the COVID-19 situation left Imphal today.
But the other two members of the team are still at Imphal.
The team visited Bishnupur and Churachandpur today and made an assessment of the COVID-19 situation in the two districts.
On the other hand, 221 people including 14 personnel of CAPF were tested positive for the contagion during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, Imphal East, Little Clinic, Acme Hospital, Tengnoupal, Raj Medicity, CMC, Kamjong, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Mothers Care, Senapati, Ascent Diagnostics, Kakching, Jivan Hospital, Churachandpur, Samaritan Hospital, Swiss Clinic, Christian Hospital, Chandel, Jiribam, Tamenglong and Babina Diagnostics.
The 207 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (49), Imphal East (39), Thoubal (32), Tengnoupal (4), Kangpokpi (2), Kamjong (2), Ukhrul (2), Bishnupur (9), Kakching (11), Senapati (1), Churachandpur (14), Tamenglong (35), Jiribam (1) and Chandel (6) .
None of them has any significant history of travelling outside the State.
In the meantime, 222 COVID-19 positive people have been discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (96), JNIMS (11), RIMS (5), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (15), CCC UNACCO (24), Kakching (1), Kangpokpi (3), Noney (1), Tamenglong (12), RD Wing (1), Moreh (15), Bishnupur (7), Thoubal (9), Bal Bhavan (13), Jiribam (3), Senapati (1), Sadbhavna (2) and Lanva (3) .
The total number of COVID-19 positive cases has climbed to 18,272 (general population 15526, Central security personnel 2746).It includes 4303 active cases (general population 3999, Central security personnel 304) and 13,805 discharged cases (general population 11367, Central security personnel 2438) .
The recovery rate as on Friday is 75.55 per cent.
A late report informed that out of 183 samples tested today at JNIMS, 32 were found infected by COVID-19.Four samples out of 104 subjected to Rapid Antigen Test at Thoubal were found positive.
Out of 118 people who have been tested positive in Imphal West district today, 12 are residents of Singjamei Waikhom Leikai while four belong to Chingamakha.
