2 deaths, 223 cases: Lowest in Aug so far

Imphal, August 30 2021:
Manipur recorded the lowest number of new cases as well as the lowest number of deaths in the month of August so far, returning figures of 223 new cases and 2 deaths.
Significantly, Jiribam has become the first district to vaccinate 100 percent of its adult population against COVID-19 (1st dose) on August 29 .
As per Jiribam Deputy Commissioner W Malemnganba, a total of 27,429 residents of the district have been vaccinated.
The daily positivity rate is also the lowest in the current month with 8.9 percent.
This is lower than the 9.29 percent recorded on August 17 .
The number of samples tested in the last 24 hours is also the third lowest in the current month with 2509 being tested.
This is just above the 2441 samples tested on August 23 and 2183 on August 16 .
According to a statement issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, altogether 223 persons returned positive results during testing conducted at RIMS (17), JNIMS (11), District Hositals (100) and other testing centres (95) .
The 223 persons who tested positive include 2 Central security personnel and out of the 221 civilians who tested positive 123 were females, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
During the same period of time, two persons fell victim to the virus and they hailed from Ukhrul and Kakching.
With two more, the cumulative number of deaths in the State is 1781 .
The two deceased persons had not received their vaccination jabs.
The 221 civilians who tested positive for the virus are from Imphal East (45), Imphal West (69), Thoubal (8), Bishnupur (14), Kakching (34), Ukhrul (10), Churachandpur (17), Chandel (5), Senapati (3), Tamenglong (1), Noney (2), Pherzawl (12) and Kangpokpi (1) .
All necessary measures including contaiment and contact tracing have been taken up, claimed the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
On the other hand 269 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours from home isolation (127), RIMS (13), JNIMS (3), CCCs (81) and CHICs (45) .
With this the cumulative number of recovered cases now stands at 1,08,430 including 4,089 Central security personnel.
The number of active cases is 3,340 inclusive of 15 Central security personnel and the recovery rate is 95.49 percent.
On August 29, a total of 990 people received their vaccination jabs to take the number of inoculated people to 15,19,826 including 3,34,507 people who have received their second dose.
In the last 24 hours a total of 1199 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 314 B type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres across the State.
The number of Covid beds as enumerated by the COVID-19 Common Control Room is RIMS (General beds-145, ICU-16), JNIMS (General beds-33, ICU-5), Iland Hospital, free of cost (General beds-12), MSF, Little Flower School, free of cost (General beds-6, ICU-7), CMC Koirengei (General beds-28, ICU-5), Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (General beds-25, ICU-3), Jivan Hospital, Kakching (General beds-16, ICU-6), Shija Hospital (General beds-30, ICU- 46), Raj Medicity (General beds-66, ICU-17) .
