Imphal, July 30 2015: Three MLAs who are members of the five-member committee constituted at the initiative of the State Government to draft a new Bill in the line of Inner Line Permit System have tendered resignation letters to the committee's chairman today.

The three MLAs who have sought resignation from the committee's membership are N Biren (Heingang A/C), Dr Ng Bijoy (Khurai A/C) and RK Anand (Naoriya Pakhanglakpa A/C) .

Sources informed that the three ruling MLAs sought resignation from the committee as they have serious grievances against the Government.

In connection with injuring a protester in police firing at Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai in the course of the 38 hour bandh called by the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Sapam Robinhood, one police personnel was suspended.

The three MLAs saw this step of the State Government as discriminatory as no police personnel has been suspended in connection with the killing of Sapam Robinhood.

They cited this non-uniform treatment of the two incidents in their resignation letters submitted to the drafting committee chairman Th Debendra who is also the Law and Legislative Affairs Minister.

On learning about the resignation letters, Chief Minister called all the three MLAs to talk about their grievances this evening but N Biren failed to turn up.

Notably, the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Sapam Robinhood boycotted MLA N Biren after the State Government failed to take up any follow-up action on the MLA's assurance to a group of Meira Paibis that necessary procedures would be initiated to suspend the police personnel involved in the killing of Robinhood.
