Imphal, March 30 2014: The election manifesto for the common candidate of Left and Secular Alliance Dr M Nara was released today at Irabot Bhavan here.

The 27-point election manifesto was released by CPI State Election Committee Chairman N Mangi and leaders of all the 10 partner parties of the alliance were present at the event.

The CPI manifesto pledges to resolve the Indo-Myanmar boundary issue resulting from incursion into Manipur's territory by Myanmar.

Saving Irom Sharmila's life by way of abolishing Armed Forces Special Powers Act and revival of the Manipur State Human Rights Commission are the second and third points of the manifesto.

Amendment of Article III of the Indian Constitution in the form of adding a special provision which guarantees territorial integrity of Manipur was another salient point of the manifesto.

It also pledges that CPI would urge the Government of India to hold peace talk with all rebel groups and bring a political solution to the insurgency issue.

CPI would work for deployment of highway protection force along Imphal-Dimapur highway and Imphal-Jiribam highway.

The party would persuade resourceful Manipuri diasporas settled in different parts of India to lend fund as well as their expertise for socio-economic development of Manipur.

The party would urge the Government of India to enact an anti-racist law in order to check discrimination and harassment of people from the North East including Manipur at Delhi and other parts of India.

CPI would work to re-introduce Inner Line Permit System in Manipur.

To accelerate economic development of Manipuri Muslims, a separate welfare directorate and a finance corporation would be set up.

No efforts would be spared to see that the Communal Violence (Prevention, Control and Rehabilitation of Victims) Bill 2005, Mishra Commission Report/Bill 2005 and Equal Opportunity Commission Bill 2008 are passed in the first session of the 16th Lok Sabha.

It further pledged that all efforts would be put in to enure that workers and peasants above 60 years of age are given monthly pension of Rs 3000 .

Speaking at the occasion, Dr Nara said he would work in such a manner, if elected, that he does not lose even an iota of people's faith.

Dr Nara promised to fight against anti-people policies of both Congress and BJP in the Parliament.

Commenting on the recent merger of five MSCP MLAs into Congress, the LSA common candidate remarked that it was a strategic move of the Congress party aimed at gaining some political mileage.

Notwithstanding the fact that Congress has now 47 MLAs, LSA will take on the Congress candidate in befitting manner.

He further asserted that Congress has thrown away its political principle.
