Fitting tribute paid to the Father of the Nation Martyrs' Day

Imphal, January 30 2018:
The State today observed Martyrs' Day to pay respects to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi as well as to the freedom fighters of the country.
The State level observation was held at GM Hall, Imphal.
Governor of Manipur Dr.Najma Heptulla led the dignitaries including Chief Minister N.Biren Singh and his Council of Ministers, Opposition leader O.Ibobi Singh, MLAs along with other top civil and police officials to pay rich floral tributes to the statue of Gandhi.

During the observation, a siren was played as a warning signal and closing signal for observance of two minutes silence.
The two minute-long silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
During the two minutes silence, all vehicular movement came to a halt.
During the observation, teachers and students of Shri Shri Bal Mukundev Government Music College, Imphal presented the favourite Bhajans of Mahatma Gandhi to mark the occasion.
