The below 500 new cases count continues since August 20, with the last 24 hours accounting for 275 new positive cases.
Significantly this is the second lowest single day tally after the 270 new cases reported on August 23 .
For the second consecutive day, the daily positivity rate continues to be below the 10 percent mark, with 275 persons returning positive results out of a total sample of 2907 to peg the daily positivity rate at 9.5 percent.
The 9.5 percent mark is again the second lowest positivity rate on a single day in the month of August, just a tad higher than the 9.29 percent recorded on August 17 .
To give more teeth to testing, the State Government has started free RTPCR and RAT testing at Imphal West and Imphal East from yesterday at designated sites.
The exercise will go on till September 2 .

According to a statement issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, Manipur recorded 275 new cases including two Central security personnel in the last 24 hours.
Out of the 275 new cases, women accounted for 154 and with this the total number of positive cases recorded in the State so far is 1,12,941 including 4,104 Central security personnel.
During the same period of time, five more persons succumbed to the virus to take the total death toll to 1775 .
The deceased persons were from Imphal West (1), Bishnupur (1), Ukhrul (1), Tengnoupal (1) and Churachandpur (1) .
Out of the 5 deceased persons 3 persons had co-morbidities and 2 of them had received the first dose of the vaccine, said the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee.
The 275 positive cases were detected during testing at RIMS (12), JNIMS (28), District Hospitals (149) and other testing centres (86) .
The 273 civilians who tested positive in the last 24 hours are from Imphal East (39), Imphal West (134), Thoubal (10), Bishnupur (14), Kakching (15), Ukhrul (11), Churachandpur (15), Chandel (2), Senapati (6), Tamenglong (17), Tengnoupal (1), Pherzawl (2) and Kangpokpi (7) .
Necessary measures including containment and contact tracing are in place, added the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
On the other hand, 332 persons were discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (129), RIMS (5), JNIMS (7), CCCs (114) and CHICs (77) .
The cumulative number of recovered cases has now gone up to 1,07,742 including 4,077 Central security personnel and the recovery rate is 95.40 percent.
The number of active cases is 3424 inclusive of 22 Central security personnel.
In the last 24 hours 7782 persons received their vaccination jabs and till date 15,11,675 people have received their vaccines including 3,28,209 who have received their second dose.
A total of 1350 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 358 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres across the State in the last 24 hours.
