22 without travel history test positive in last 24 hours
Two RIMS docs, 12 railway labourers test positive

Imphal, July 28 2020:
A Professor of RIMS Orthopaedics Department, one PG doctor of Medicine Department and one technician of RIMS ICU have been tested positive for COVID-19 while 12 labourers engaged in the railway construction work have been infected by the virus in Tamenglong.
The COVID-19 positive labourers are migrant workers from West Bengal.
On the other hand, of the 31 people who tested positive for the contagion during the last 24 hours at the district hospitals of Thoubal, Churachandpur, Tamenglong, RIMS and Imphal West mobile team, 22 have no travel history, though they have local risk history.
Sources informed that one Orthopaedics Professor, one PG doctor from Sikkim and one ICU technician have been tested positive for COVID-19 in RIMS.
So far, 18 employees of RIMS including doctors and nurses have been infected by the virus.
As such, the hospital has been closed and the employees are being tested apart from disinfecting different sections of the hospital.
Information received from Tamenglong district administration said that 12 labourers from West Bengal who are engaged in the railway construction work were tested positive for COVID-19 .
Three other labourers earlier tested positive.
One 8th Manipur Rifles personnel, his wife and their six year old daughter have also been found infected by the contagion after rapid antigen test at Shija Hospital.
The 8th MR personnel and his family have been living in the family line of 1st Manipur Rifles.
The COVID-19 positive MR personnel is said to be an escort of one ADGP.
One Assam Rifles personnel brought from Tengnoupal was also found COVID-19 positive at Shija Hospital late last night.
After the 8th MR personnel was tested positive, 19 other escorts of the ADGP were tested at JNIMS and three of them were found positive.
The 1st MR family line where the COVID-19 positive personnel was staying has been declared as a containment zone by the district administration concerned.
Moreover, Imphal West district administration has taken up due process to conduct COVID-19 test on all the people staying in the family including personnel of 1st MR.According to information received from JNIMS, 836 samples were tested at JNIMS today and 74 were found positive.
Out of this, 38 are from Churachandpur including 31 from the 113 Bn BSF and 7 from the ITI Saikot Quarantine Centre.
Details of the other positive people could not be obtained till the time of filing this report.
Another individual was confirmed for the virus afte rapid antigen test at Thoubal district hospital today.
The individual's contact details are not known yet.
Further, six other individuals were found COVID-19 positive after they were tested by a mobile team at Thoubal Khekman.
14 people including one AR personnel posted at Thoubal were tested positive for COVID-19 at RIMS today.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 31 people were tested positive for the contagion during the last 24 hours at the district hospitals of Thoubal, Churachandpur, Tamenglong, RIMS and Imphal West mobile team.
Five of them belong to Imphal West, eight to Churachandpur, 10 to Thoubal and eight to Tamenglong.
Except for one from Imphal West and eight from Thoubal, the other positive people have no travel history even though they have local risk history.
On the other hand, 56 people have recovered from COVID-19 during the last 24 hours.
They have been discharged from RIMS (4), CCC Meitram (12), CCC Ukhrul (9), CCC Senapati (23), CCC Thoubal (5) and RD Wing (3) .
The State's total COVID-19 positive tally has now reached 2317 .
These include 702 active cases and 1615 recovered cases which puts the recovery rate at 69.70 per cent.
Amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases, several areas in Imphal West, Imphal East and Bishnupur districts have been sealed off and declared as containment zones.
The containment zones include areas of Family Line of 1st Manipur Rifles and Horticulture Section of Secretariat Annexe, North Block in Imphal West and Block-A Residence Quarters, JNIMS and Laipham Khunou Mamang Leikai in Imphal East and Loyola School in Bishnupur district.
The Family Line of 1st MR was sealed off after one personnel of 8th Battalion MR and two of his family members tested positive for COVID-19, said an order of the Imphal West Deputy Commissioner, while the Horticulture Section of Secretariat Annexe, North Block was closed after one staff tested positive for the virus.
Block-A Residence Quarters of JNIMS was sealed after one resident of Hiyangthang who was residing at the quarters tested positive while the area of Laipham Khunou Mamang Leikai, Imphal East was sealed off after one resident tested COVID-19 positive.
Loyola School in Bishnupur was declared as a containment zone after two inmates of the quarantine centre opened at the school tested coronavirus positive.
Meanwhile, Chief Medical Officer of Bishnupur district has issued a public notice asking all who had attended the Casualty/Emergency Wards of Thoubal District Hospital between July 17 and 26 to inform the CMO/District Surveillance Officer by phone (9436033708/8794873973) for COVID-19 testing.
