Imphal, March 27 2020:
The Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM) has set up a 40-member task force to help people fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a social media post uploaded by PPCM convenor Jeetendra Ningomba, the task force would not only help the masses but would also assist the Government in all its initiatives aimed at preventing COVID-19 infection.
The convenor appealed to the Government not to be discriminatory while distributing food items during the lockdown and not to politicise the work of distributing relief materials.

He appealed to the Government to distribute food items and other relief materials through local youth clubs and voluntary organisations, if possible.
Necessary health care measures should be taken up at all the places where food and other relief items are distributed, said the PPCM convenor.
Saying that putting up barricades at different localities in the name of keeping COVID-19 at bay would pose serious hurdles to essential and emergency services, he appealed to one and all to remove all such barricades.
Taking serious note of the reports that phone calls made to helpline numbers given by the Government were not responded, Jeetendra expressed keen desire to designate a few staff for receiving phone calls.
He then appealed to all the people not to spread rumours but support the preventive and containment measures taken up by the Government.
Meanwhile, Jamiatul Ulema, Manipur president Alhaz Moulana Shayeed Ahmed has appealed to all Muslims to suspend mass prayer sessions at Mosques for the time being and pray at home.
Alhaz Moulana Shayeed Ahmed said that the Jamiat Ulema-E-Hind has already addressed all the followers of Islam on how to prevent infection by COVID-19 .
"Accordingly, I'm requesting all Muslims of the State to pray at home instead of congregating at Mosques", Alhaz Moulana Shayeed Ahmed said.
He appealed to all concerned to stop congregation at Mosques for sometime.
