Constitution enforces the Rights and Duties of the citizens, says Law Minister

Like in other states of the country, Manipur also celebrates the Constitution Day or Samvidhan Divas today at LMS Law College to commemorate the historic moment in 1949 when the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of India.
Later, the Indian Constitution subsequently came into force on January 26, 1950 .
It is also the day when the nation remembers BR Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian constitution.
The function was organised by Law & Legislative Affairs Department, Manipur in collaboration with LMS Law College, Imphal.
Law & Legislative Affairs Minister Th Satyabrata Singh leads the audience in reading the Preamble to the Constitution of India during the function.

Recalling the grand event in history when the Constitution was adopted, Minister Th Satyabrata stressed on the Constitution values among the citizens and the enforcement of the rights and duties of the citizens of the country.
It is a regret that we are not able to successfully hold the Constitution Day as expected due to the global COVID 19 pandemic crisis, lets try to celebrate it better in the future, he said.
M Harekrishna, Commissioner (Higher Education), Government of Manipur, highlighted that any scheme, policy or project that the Government plan and implement must be within the jurisdiction of the Constitution.
He reflected that law as a subject is unique as a certain level of understanding, appreciation and attachment is required rather than merely getting degrees.
Nungshitombi Athokpam, Law Secretary, Government of Manipur, briefed on the main theme of today's function and expressed regret that the activities of the annual calendar cannot be carried out satisfactorily as normal due to the prevailing COVID disease.
An extempore speech competition was also held as part of the function.
Faculties, students and staff of L.M.S.Law College took part in the function.
