4 hurt in grenade attack near Babina Clinic

Imphal, October 26 2012:
At least four persons sustained inju-ries when a grenade exploded at the authorised collection centre of Babina Diagnostic Centre located at JNIMS crossing, Porompat in Imphal East district at about 5 this evening.
According to information culled from the spot, a hand grenade hurled by some unidentified persons exploded at the foot of the centre's northern shutter.
The injured victims have been identified as lab technician Thokchom Joyshree (28) d/o Kamini of Khurai Thangjam Leikai, office assistant Sapam Dipu (35) s/o Modhusudon of Sega Road, Konjeng Hazari Leikai, office assistant Wahengbam Rameshwari (25) d/o Tiken of Wabagai but staying at Porompat and Yumkham Romeo (31) s/o Ashokumar of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai but staying at Khurai Ahongei.
Romeo was coming to buy medicines from an adjoining pharmacy when the grenade exploded.

All four of them were rushed to JNIMS but Dipu was shifted to Shija Hospitals.
Even though Dipu sustained multiple injuries, his condition is said to be out of danger.
Joyshree was hit by shrapnels on the left leg, Rameshwari on both legs and Romeo on the face.
Imphal East SP Kamei Angam Romanus came and inspected the blast site.
Police have launched investigation into the grenade attack after a case was registered at Porompat police station.
