Blast rocks M-Sector, high security zone breached again

Breaching the high security zone and right under the nose of security forces, a bomb exploded inside the campus of M-Sector which houses the PROs of Assam Rifles PRO as well as PIB (Defence Wing) and the Military Intelligence.
On September 12 a bomb was found inside the complex of the Old Secretariat, another high security zone.
However, the explosion did not inflict any human casualty even though some door and window panes of the AR PRO's official quarters were shattered and some branches of Gulmohor trees snapped at the impact of the blast.
The bomb exploded inside the northen wall of M-Sector, to the South of Johnstone Higher Secondary School at about 5.30 am today.
Police claimed that the explosive might be a grenade.
However, no media persons were allowed entry to the blast site.
At the same time, M-Sector staff have been keeping a complete mum on how the bomb exploded.

Before the explosion at M-Sector, a powerful bomb exploded at Khwairakpam along Imphal-Churachandpur road under Bishnupur police station at about 5.10 am.
The bomb which was suspected to be an IED, however, did not cause any human casualty.
Notably, some posts of 6/8 GR and Territorial Army are located near the blast site.
Around 10 minutes earlier, another IED weighing 5 Kgs was discovered at Moidangpok along Imphal-Jiribam highway under Patsoi police station.
The bomb was retrieved by explosive experts of Manipur police and set off at a safer place.
The IED contained two kilograms of plastic explosive kiosk and other components.
Significantly, 9 Sector Assam Rifles Headquarters is located along the road while Group Centre CRPF is located a little distance away from the spot where the bomb was recovered.
As such, the spot and the road was frequented by security forces.
Meanwhile, unidentified persons hurled at grenade at the Achanbigei Mayai Leikai residence of former Imphal East Zilla Parishad Adhyaksha Pungshungbam Bimola at about 11 last night.
The grenade which failed to go off was picked up police.
Notably, P Bimola was re-elected this time too as Member of the Kontha-Ahallup Zilla Parishad.
