Imphal, July 25 2014 :
The proverbial Damocles' sword is hanging over five MLAs of the Manipur Legislative Assembly and they now face a very preca-rious situation.
The MLAs whose fates hand by the thread are Kh Joykisan (Thangmeiband A/C), Th Bishwajit (Thongju A/C), O Lukhoi (Wangoi A/C), M Kunjo (Hiyanglam A/C) and K Sarat (Konthoujam).
Together with these five MLAs, Th Shyamkumar of Andro A/C and Dr I Ibohalbi of Oinam A/C were elected in the 10th Assembly election on AITC tickets.
AITC Manipur unit president Th Shyamkumar filed a petition to the Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker on June 26 seeking disqualification of Kh Joykisan and Th Bishwajit.
This was followed by another petition on July 4 seeking disqualification of O Lukhoi, K Sarat and Maibam Kunjo.

The Speaker, after perusing the petitions, have started consulting legal experts, informed well placed sources.
However, there is no report of serving show cause notices to any of the five MLAs till date.
It is reported that show cause notices may be sent at the closure of the ongoing Assembly session or thereafter.
After the AITC general secretary issued a notification regarding appointment of Th Shyamkumar as the party's Manipur unit president, Mani-pur Pradesh Trinamool Congress was formed under the leadership of MLA Th Joykisan and the party declared that they have no connection with AITC.
Quoting the statements of Joykisan and Bishwajit, Shyamkumar's petition contended that the duo were working against the Constitution of India.
Shyamkumar made the same contention against O Lukhoi, K Sarat and M Kunjo for snapping all ties with AITC in the guise of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress after they were elected on AITC tickets.
