538 more test positive to take total caseload to 44,627

Imphal, May 24 2021:
Even as the number of fresh infections dipped slightly, Manipur recorded 17 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the toll to 705 .
A total of 538 persons tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours against yesterday's 767 cases.
The 538 cases were detected when testing 2,600 samples, meaning 20.69 percent of the samples turned out positive.
The number of Covid positive cases has reached 44,627 including 6,444 active cases.
As many as 611 persons recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours taking the total recovered cases to 37,478.The recovery rate stands at 83.98 percent.
So far, 3,45,618 persons have been vaccinated against Covid in the State.
Meanwhile, the 17 deaths in the last 24 hours were reported from JNIMS (7), Raj Medicity (4), Shija Hospital (2), Babina (2), DH Thoubal (1) and RIMS (1), said a report of the Government COVID-19 Common Control Room today.
Imphal East and Imphal West districts accounted for 14 of the 17 deaths.
The two districts reported 7 cases each while Bishnupur, Kakching and Thoubal district reported one case each.
Four of the victims were under 40 .
The seven victims from Imphal East include two women aged 70, 98 years and five men aged 50, 55, 58, 62 and 71 years.
The seven victims from Imphal West also include two women aged 32 and 57 and five men aged 30, 60, 61, 71 and 75 years.
The victims of Bishnupur and Thoubal and Kakching were men aged 32, 38 and a woman aged 45 years respectively.
On the other hand, the 538 persons (264 males and 266 females), who tested positive for Covid in the last 24 hours include eight personnel of the Central Armed Police Force and 530 from the general population.
They tested positive for Covid at testing facilities opened at private hospitals (256), District Hospitals (121), JNIMS (105) and RIMS (56) .
The 530 cases from the general population belong to Imphal West (202), Imphal East (164), Ukhrul (38), Churachandpur (34), Bishnupur (21), Thoubal (18), Kakching (12), Senapati (8), Jiribam (7), Kangpokpi (7), Chandel (5), Tengnoupal (5), Tamenglong (4), Noney (4) and Kamjong (1) .
The 611 persons who have recovered from Covid include 507 persons who were under home isolation.
The remaining have been discharged from Covid Care Centres opened at Lamboi-khongnangkhong (40), NSU (7), Thoubal (7), Churachandpur (7), Kakching (6), Bishnupur (5), Ukhrul (5), SHRI (5), RIMS (4), BB (4), LANVA (3), Senapati (3), JNIMS (2), RD Wing (2), Jivan Hospital (2), Babina Speciality Hospital (1) and Chandel (1) .
The cumulative number of Covid positive cases is 44,627 (general population-40,900 and Central security personnel-3,727) .
The cumulative number of recovered cases is 37,478 (general population-33,846 and Central security personnel-3,532) .
The number of active cases is 6,444 (general population-6,354 and Central security personnel-90) .
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1323 D-type oxygen cylinders and 495 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different healthcare institutions in the State, said the Covid report.
