A press release issued by the IDSP State Surveillance Officer informed that 263 samples were tested at RIMS and 110 at JNIMS since last night.
All the samples except the three tested negative.
The two samples which tested positive today belong to residents of Thoubal district and both of them are males who are aged 19 and 26 .
They came back from Delhi by separate buses recently.
On the other hand, the mother-son duo from Moreh who tested positive for COVID-19 after their return from Mumbai have tested negative at RIMS today.
They went to Mumbai for medical treatment and returned to Imphal on May 8 .
They were tested positive for COVID-19 at RIMS on May 16 .
Since then, the 76 years old mother and the 48 years old son have been undergoing treatment at the COVID-19 care facility of RIMS.
Their samples tested negative for COVID-19 today which is the seventh day of their hospitalisation, informed a source.
As such, they have been discharged from hospital which means the number of COVID-19 positive individuals who have recovered now stands at four.
Till date, the State's recovery rate is 14.79 per cent.
Thus the total number of COVID-19 active and positive cases in the State have reached 25 and 29 respectively.
Meanwhile, a high level meeting held this afternoon with Chief Minister N Biren in the chair decided to raise the daily rate of COVID-19 test to 1000 .
The meeting attended by top officials of Health Department, RIMS and JNIMS decided to upgrade the testing capacity of both JNIMS and RIMS.
Even though the laboratories of RIMS and JNIMS have the testing capacity of 120 and 250 samples per day, there is an apprehension of possible errors or inaccuracy if too many tests are done in a single day.
