COVID-19 single day count : Fresh cases dip to 56; 2 deaths reported

With 56 new Covid cases reported from at least 7 districts in the last 24 hours, the daily cases of Manipur have dropped to a new low in less than a week's time.
The earlier lowest of 67 Covid cases in six months was reported on October 18 .
The new cases were confirmed at RIMS (9), JNIMS (8) and other testing centres (39) and are from Imphal East (17), Imphal West (25), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (3), Churachandpur (5) and Senapati (1) .
The single day positivity rate updated on Friday was 3.4 percent, which again fell below 5 percent as 1,664 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
In the period (i.e last 24 hours), none of the districts in Manipur reported daily positivity rate in double digit.
The highest of 6.6 percent was reported from Imphal East as 17 of 256 samples tested positive.
The positivity rate of the remaining districts which reported Covid cases also fell below 5 percent except Churachandpur (5.6 percent) as 5 of the 90 samples tested positive.
Meanwhile, 1 Covid death each was reported from Chandel and Imphal West in the period, pushing the death toll to 1907 .
According to COVID-19 Common Control Room, both the deceased had co-morbidities while one of them had taken 1st dose of Covid vaccine.
Notably, Pherzawl is the only district which has no fatality due to the disease so far while topping the chart is Imphal West with 634 deaths.
Today, at least 94 persons were discharged from Home Isolation (33), RIMS (8), JNIMS (7) and CCCs (43) .
However, 403 persons are reported discharged only today, so the recovered cases of the day are considered 494 as per the Government bulletin.
With this, the number of active cases has reduced to 906, which is considerably lower than the 1,346 updated on Thursday while the recovery rate has improved to 97.71 percent.
The cumulative number of positive cases, on the other hand, has increased to 1,23,107 with the addition of 56 new cases.
On October 21, 605 D-type and 91 B-type oxygen cylinders were distributed to different health care facilities of Manipur and on the same day, 9245 Covid vaccine doses were administered.
According to the report updated by the Government, Jiribam topped the vaccination chart as it has vaccinated 101.57 percent of its eligible population with 1st dose and 54.75 with second dose.
At the bottom of the chart is Senapati which has so far administered 17.87 percent of its population with 1st dose and 9.93 percent with second dose.
Manipur has so far vaccinated 63.97 of its eligible population with 1st dose and 32.24 percent with 32.24 percent, according to the bulletin.
