Low number of tests, low count continues for second day
Daily positivity rate logged at 12.1 pc, 8 deaths reported

Imphal, August 21 2021:
Total number of samples tested continue to be below the four thousand mark for the second consecutive day today and the number of new cases detected continues to be below the 500 mark for the second consecutive day today too but the daily positivity rate continues to be above the 10 pc mark.
Out of a total of 3645 samples tested in the last 24 hours, 442 samples returned positive results to take the daily positivity rate to 12.1 percent up from the 10.2 percent mark registered on August 20 .
On August 20, a total of 3642 samples were tested and 372 people tested positive with a daily positivity rate of 10.2 percent.
The 442 people who returned positive results in the last 24 hours included two Central security personnel and out of the 440 civilians, 236 were females, said a statement from the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The positive status of the 442 were confirmed during testing at RIMS (25), JNIMS (60), District Hospitals (248) and other testing centres (109) .
In the same period a total of 8 persons passed away due to the virus, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room quoting the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee.
The deceased persons belonged to Imphal East (3), Imphal West (2), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (1) and Senapati (1) .
Out of the 8 deaths, 6 persons had comorbidities and none of them had received their vaccination shots, added the statement.
The total number of deaths due to the virus now stands at 1747 .
The 440 positive cases detected from amongst the civil population are from Imphal East (69), Imphal West (187), Thoubal (18), Bishnupur (48), Kakching (17), Ukhrul (18), Churachandpur (17), Chandel (5), Senapati (10), Tamenglong (17), Noney (3), Kamjong (16) and Kangpokpi (15) .
Necessary measures including containment and contact tracing are in place.
On the other hand 598 persons were discharged from home isolation (220), RIMS (10), JNIMS (15), CCCs (166) and CHICs (187) in the last 24 hours to take the total number of recovered cases to 1,04,771 including 4056 Central security personnel.
The recovery rate is now 94.68 percent.
With the addition of 442 more positive cases, the cumulative number of cases in the State has reached 1,10,657 which is inclusive of 4,088 Central security personnel.
The number of active cases is 4,139 including 27 Central security personnel.
On August 20, a total of 6449 people received their vaccine shots taking the total of vaccinated people to 14,74,052 and this is inclusive of 2,98,681 people who have received their second dose.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1708 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 367 B Type Oxygen cylinders were despatched to different health centres across the State.
As enumerated by the COVID-19 Common Control Room the number of beds available in RIMS is (General beds-120, ICU-18), JNIMS (General beds-16, ICU-3), Iland Hospital, free of cost (General beds-9), MSF, Little Flower School, free of cost (General beds-0, ICU-10), CMC Koirengei (General beds-28, ICU-5), Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (General beds-22, ICU-3), Jivan Hospital, Kakching (General beds-17, ICU-6), Shija Hospital (General beds-28, ICU-24), Raj Medicity (General beds-64, ICU-16) .
