COVID-19 claims two more lives, toll climbs to 21

The State today recorded two more deaths from COVID-19 pushing the death toll to 21 .
A 60 year old COVID-19 patient from Wahengbam Leikai, Imphal West died at JNIMS this morning even as one IRB personnel succumbed to the virus at the CCC Meitram.
Sources informed that the man from Wahengbam Leikai was also suffering from fever and diarrhoea.
He expired at around 10.30 am.
One personnel of 1st IRB who had been undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at CCC Meitram too died this afternoon.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 124 individuals including 26 CAPF personnel were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, Shija Hospital, Public Hospital, Raj Medicity, Chandel RAT, Jivan Hospital, Thoubal RAT, Little Clinic, Imphal West RAT, Advance Hospital, IRL and Babina Diagnostic Centre.
Of the 98 civilians who have been found infected by the contagion, 50 belong to Imphal West, 26 to Imphal East, five to Bishnupur, eight to Chandel, five to Thoubal, two to Churachandpur, one to Kakching and one to Tamenglong.
Except for the one belonging to Kakching, the other civilians have no history of travelling outside the State.
On the other hand, 259 people who have been undergoing treatment for COVID-19 have been discharged from CAPF (107), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (71), CCC Meitram (34), CCC Noney (13), CCC Kakching (16), CCC Churachandpur (14) and CCC Senapati (4) .
The total tally of COVID-19 positive cases has reached 5049 (general public 3737, Central security personnel 1312).This includes 1768 active cases (general public 972, Central security personnel 796) and 3261 discharged cases (general public 2744, Central security personnel 517) .
The recovery rate as on Friday is 64.58 per cent.
A late report informed that 13 samples were found positive out of 652 samples tested at JNIMS today.
28 other people tested positive for the virus in Imphal West district and three of them are residents of Paona Keithel.
Meanwhile, one more staff of TOM TV has been tested positive for the virus which means two staff of the TV network have been infected by the virus.
