AMUCO, UCM, CCSK demand state assembly stands on RN Ravi's statement
resolved to act as per the decision of the state Assembly session

Civil society organisation of the state All Manipur United Club Organisation (AMUCO), United Committee Manipur (UCM), and Committee of Civil Society Kangleipak (CCSK) today called on the legislatures of the state assembly to make a resolution to the statement of the RN Ravi which was published at almost all newspaper including national media today.
A joint press conference held today at the office of AMUCO at Kwakeithel here in Imphal, President of AMUCO Ph Devan said that the report appeared at National newspaper Indian Express and The Hindu indicated implication of article 371 A which is giving special provision for the state of Nagaland, to all the Naga inhabited area of the state.
" This is against the will of the people of the state as it is more like dividing the state on ethnic base", Devan said.
He added that the civil society of the state including AMUCO, UCM and CCSK had already warn about serious consequences if any division is made to the integrity of the state.
He also question how it will be possible when there is no such place in the state of Nagaland where only a specific community inhabited.
"Manipur is a multi ethnic state and any divisive policy on ethic line will never be accepted by the people" Devan said.
As per report appeared in Indian Express RN Ravi was quoted as saying that rticle 371A of the Constitution makes it clear that they are special and a special status has been accorded to them.
A similar kind of status, with some local variation, and some change to the Nagas in the neighbouring States can be explored.
According to the report, Mr.Ravi also informed the committee that the Nagas had now reached a common understanding with the government that "boundaries of the States will not be touched" and "some special arrangements would be made for the Nagas, wherever they are" .
" It is meaningless to keep the territorial boundary intact while different administration is enforce for one community and another administration for another community", Devan reacted.
President of UCM Sunil Karam , who also attended the Press meet caustion serious agitation if the state assembly failes to take a decision on Monday assembly session.
Ningombam Jitendra, president of the CCSK said that the Civil society body will wait until Monday and as per the fall out of the assembly resolution on Monday the CSOs will announce its course of action to be taken up.
