Fourth wave reaches Pherzawl district

The fourth wave of Covid-19 pandemic has reached Pherzawl district, which had been left untouched for several months, as government bulletins on Wednesday reported 98 new positive cases from 12 districts out of 1022 samples tested in the last 24 hours, thus, registering 9.59 percent positivity rate.
The 98 fresh cases (79 male & 19 female) are residents of Imphal West (41), Imphal East (21), Churachandpur (15), Thoubal (4), Ukhrul (3), Bishnupur (3), Pherzawl (3), Tamenglong (3), Kangpokpi (2), Kakching (1) and Chandel (1) districts.
Pherzawl had no virus case until Wednesday, which also reported 50 recoveries from home isolation (44) and JNIMS (6) .
No death cases were repored in the last 24 hours and the fatality toll remains at 2122 .
Meanwhile, number of active cases rose to 624, out of which 457 (73.24 per
cent) are in home isolation.
Till date, the pandemic has claimed 2121 lives and infected 1,38,221 individuals in the state.
The virus has claimed lives of 194 vaccinated people, out of which 61 had received the second dose of Covid vaccine.
There are 21 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 11 in RIMS.
So far, the state has recorded 976 positive cases and two deaths since the beginning of the fourth wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 951 new positive case and two death cases.
The cumulative positivity rate for the current month dipped to 11.50 per cent .
In the last 24 hours, 86 D-type and 26 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities and 8,283 vaccine doses administered which took the cumulative number of vaccinated population to 16,05,030, out of which 12,75,506 had received the second dose and 1,50,218 had taken precautionary dose.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (49225), Imphal East (30708), Thoubal (10207), Churachandpur (11097), Kangpokpi (3148), Tamenglong (3483), Bishnupur (9881), Senapati (2503), Ukhrul (3304), Kakching (6926), Chandel (2744), Noney (1167), Tengnoupal (1205), Jiribam (1114), Kamjong (1041), and Pherzawl (468) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 44,544 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 31,117 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 5,23,028 tests per million population against the national average of 6,18,486
TPM.
Case fatality rate came down at 1.53 percent and the recovery rate also came down to 98.01 percent.
The cumulative positivity rate stands at 8.52 percent.
