Death toll spikes by 11, 644 fresh cases recorded

The State's COVID-19 death toll has reached 646 after 11 persons succumbed to the virus during the last 24 hours while 644 fresh infections were detected Of the latest 11 victims, seven were residents of Imphal West, three of Imphal East and one of Churachandpur, according to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
The victims from Imphal West were aged 48 (male), 78 (male), 43 (male), 85 (male), 57 (female), 65 (female) and 58 (female) .
The victims from Imphal East were two males and a female aged 33, 42 and 60 respectively.
The victim from Churachandpur is a 34-year old female.
The 11 victims succumbed to the virus at Babina Speciality Hospital, Shija Hospital, Churachandpur district hospital, RIMS and JNIMS.
In the meantime, 644 fresh positive cases were detected at RIMS, JNIMS, district hospitals and other private testing centres.
They are residents of Imphal West (304), Imphal East (191), Thoubal (36), Bishnupur (33), Kakching (29), Ukhrul (6), Churachandpur (27), Chandel (5), Tengnoupal (3), Kangpokpi (5) and Noney (5) .
Even though 31 air passengers were tested today at Imphal airport for COVID-19, no one was found positive.
The cumulative number of air passengers tested so far at Imphal airport is 4,787 and it includes 112 positive cases.
Air passengers who came to the State on May 19 by Air India flight AI-889 in rows 15-21 have been informed to report to the COVID-19 Common Control Room on 1800-345-3818 or respective District Surveillance Officers for further surveillance and necessary testing.
Following recovery, 546 people who were under treatment for COVID-19 were discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (410), CAPF (2), RIMS (3), RD Wing (16), BB (17), Lanva (5), NSU (16), Shija Hospital (16), Babina Speciality Hospital (2), Jivan Hospital (8), Thoubal (11), Bishnupur (7), Kakching (9), Ukhrul (9), Churachandpur (5), Kangpokpi (1), Tamenglong (2), Tengnoupal (3), Phungyar (2) and Kasom Khullen (2) .
The cumulative number of positive cases is 41,909 (general population 38,192 and Central security personnel 3,717) .
It is inclusive of 6904 active cases (general population 6757 and Central security personnel 147) and 34,359 recovered cases (general population 30,794 and Central security personnel 3,565) .
The recovery rate as on Thursday is 81.98 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1367 D type Oxygen cylinders and 571 B type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of the State.
So far, 3,31,631 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the State as per latest information provided by the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
