Death toll rises to 1995, active cases cross 200 again

Imphal, December 18 2021:
After a gap a two consecutive days, the State reported two Covid related deaths during the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 1995 .
As per a report of the State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee, both the victims hailed from Imphal West.
They had co-morbidities and had first dose of Covid vaccine.
Meanwhile, out of 1,620 samples tested for Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, 16 were confirmed positive at RIMS (4) and other testing centres (12) .
The newly infected people belong to Imphal East (6), Imphal West (8), Kak-ching (1) and Churachandpur (1), informed a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and Covid-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
Kakching recorded the highest daily positivity rate of 2.3 per cent followed by Imphal East 2.2 per cent.
On the other hand, nine persons who were undergoing treatment for Covid-19 have been discharged following recovery from home isolation (5), JNIMS (1) and CCCs (3).The cumulative number of Covid-19 positive cases in the State has reached 1,25,613 (general population 1,21,180 and Central security personnel 4,433) .
This figure includes 203 active cases (general population 202 and Central security personnel 1) and 1,23,415 recovered cases (general population 1,18,988 and Central security personnel 4,427).The recovery rate now stands at 98.25 per cent.
A total of 252 D-type oxygen cylinders and 32 B-type oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities of the State yesterday.
The cumulative number of Covid vaccine doses administered in the State has reached 22,63,050 (first dose 13,09,736 and second dose 9,53,314) and it includes 4876 doses administered on Friday.
Out of the State's total eligible population, 55.95 per cent has received the first dose of Covid vaccine whereas 40.72 per cent has received both the first and second doses till December 17 .
